Abstract

A 78 year-old male with Parkinson’s disease, who had a scheduled knee prosthesis intervention, presented an acute confusional pattern in the postoperative period associated with morphic and antiparkinsonian medication, with an unexpected fatal outcome. The identification of patients at risk and the precipitating causes of delirium, as well as the introduction of preventive measures are essential to improve mortality and associated complications.
