Peripheral edema is a common clinical case, often of multifactorial etiology. It can be unilateral or bilateral, which can be key for a diagnosis on systemic or local pathologies. We want to showcase the clinical case of a 79-year-old woman who attended the emergency department due to asymmetric swelling of the right lower limb, with functional limitation; without other associated symptoms. After excluding the most frequent causes, the existence of a synovial cyst of the coxofemoral joint was confirmed, which is an atypical cause of the edema.
