Abstract

Temporal arteritis or Horton's disease is the most frequent vasculitis in adults with severe complications, both ophthalmological and systemic. Although a pathological temporal artery biopsy offers a definitive diagnosis, Doppler ultrasound of the temporal arteries can contribute to the diagnosis, the most characteristic ultrasound finding being the presence of a hypoechoic area around the vessel known as the “halo sign”. Next, we describe the case of a patient with suggestive symptoms in whom the diagnosis could be reached thanks to point of care ultrasonography, without the need for a biopsy.
