Recurring acute pleuropericarditis after vaccination against SARS-CoV-2

Acute pericarditis consists of inflammation of the pericardium. It usually appears with chest pain associated with changes in the electrocardiogram and may be accompanied by pericardial effusion and pericardial rub. The most common form of presentation is self-limited, but up to 30% of cases have recurrences. Treatment is based on rest and steroidal anti-inflammatories. This disease is one of the adverse effects that should be taken into account on vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. We showcase here the case of a 68-year-old man with recurrent acute pleuropericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination with Moderna.
