Abstract

A renal abscess is considered a rare, but serious complication of urinary tract infections. Up to date, very few cases have been reported of the appearance of skin lesions associated with renal or perirenal abscess. This research presents the case of a female patient admitted under suspicion of cellulitis on the right flank and progression to a necrotic skin lesion secondary to emphysematous pyelonephritis with kidney stones and kidney abscess. Multiple antibiotics were administered, and several surgical cleanings were performed; finally, the vacuum-assisted closure system was placed with favorable results.
