Abstract

The superior vena cava syndrome is a rare complication after the implantation of endocavitary pacemakers. We present a 76 year-old woman with multiple pacemaker replacements who was referred to our service of Internal Medicine with symptoms compatible with right heart failure. During her hospitalization, despite the high dose of diuretics, oedema and dyspnea persisted. We discuss the concrete etiology and the management options.
