Abstract

Streptococcus intermedius has been linked to liver abscesses in the context of dental infections, intestinal and colorectal tumors. The endocarditis caused by this microorganism is a very rare complication. A 60 year-old male suffering fever and abdominal pain for a week is admitted to the emergency service. An abdominal CT is carried out showing suggestive metastastic lesions. He is admitted to the hospital for further tests, and the blood cultures Streptococcus intermedius later. An echocardiogram is performed and the patient is diagnosed with infective endocarditis.
