Abstract

A patient under treatment of bladder instillations of Calmette-Guerin bacillus (BCG) due to a record of bladder carcinoma, was hospitalized because of fever, malaise, anemia, thrombopenia, as well as a rise in the level of transaminases and bilirubin with associated splenomegaly. The patient was diagnosed with hemophagocytic syndrome secondary to hematogenous dissemination of BCG. After establishing the tuberculostatic treatment associated with corticosteroids and intravenous immunoglobulins, the patient evolved satisfactorily.
