Abstract

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that mainly affects adults aged 50 to 70 years, characterized by the formation of non-necrotizing granulomas causing pulmonary fibrosis or systemic conditions, sometimes being symptomatic or incidentally discovered. We present a 51-year-old patient admitted for severe hypercalcemia and renal failure routinely detected, presenting symptoms such as nocturnal itching, asthenia and insomnia. The analyses revealed renal failure, hypercalcemia, elevated angiotensin converting enzyme and elevated vitamin D with decreased PTH. With the findings of complementary tests, the primary diagnosis was oriented to stage III sarcoidosis with secondary hypercalcemia.
