Abstract

Optic disc edema results from a wide range of pathological processes secondary to elevated intracranial pressure.
It carries specific etiologies including expansive lesions of cerebral parenchyma and cranial bone alterations. Other
infrequent mechanisms involve neurological paraneoplastic syndromes, although there is limited information on this phenomenon. We present the case of a young male patient diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer without involvement of the brain parenchyma, who developed optic neuropathy as a paraneoplastic syndrome.
