Abstract

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a disease characterized by the intraalveolar accumulation of surfactant components that causes deterioration of the gas exchange. We present a 58-year-old man with a diagnosis of alveolar proteinosis and a history of Essential Thrombocythemia treated with total lung lavage, GM-CSF and Rituximab therapy, without being able to stop the course of the disease. We review the different clinical forms and treatment.
