Abstract

Diabetes is the most frequent metabolic disease in pregnancy and is associated with an increased risk of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, which can be reduced with adequate control. To reduce its incidence after childbirth, it is essential to recover adequate body weight through diet and exercise and to reassess the risk of diabetes on a regular basis.
